TOP NATURAL REMEDIES AND TIPS FOR REDUCING WRINKLES
By Anna Green April 25, 2020

Aging is natural and unavoidable for human beings, and wrinkles are part of it. Human genetic combinations are what bring about wrinkles, but remedies do exist. You can decide to use expensive but fast methods, or the inexpensive but slower methods to prevent wrinkles. The former uses lasers or chemical peels, and the latter are natural home remedies found in your kitchen or bathroom. Home remedies for wrinkles do not expose your skin to harsh chemicals.

Major Home Remedies for Wrinkles

I have come to realize chemicals found in lotions, pills, and masks might be quick ways to get rid of wrinkles, but they all have long-term adverse effects. It's better to use the following natural home remedies for wrinkles. If you follow them, they will help you get rid of the free radicals which cause premature aging or wrinkles.

1. Olive oil

Olive oil tops on the list of natural remedies for wrinkles. It does make human skin stay supple and soft. Olive oil is a good source of antioxidants; it contains vitamins A and C which fight free radicals that damage our skin. Remember, olive oil is an excellent massage oil for your skin. Add a few drops of olive oil onto the damp facial skin, massage it gently, then rinse with a soft towel. The oil will penetrate into the skin to keep it moisturized and to regenerate skin cells. To get better results, massage your skin with olive oil before bedtime. You can also massage your face with a mixture of a few drops of olive oil, honey, and glycerin. This mixture will help tighten your skin and get rid of dead cells. Apply it twice daily.

2. Cucumber

Cucumber protects the skin from dryness, cracking, and peeling while it tightens and hydrates the skin. Cucumbers contain a lot of vitamins such as B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, and C plus other antioxidants that offset free radicals. One way of using cucumber is to blend a large cucumber and squeeze the juice out of it and then apply it to your face. Let it sit for about 30-60 minutes and then wash it off. The other option is to mix it with Greek yogurt (1/2 a cup) and mint leaves, then cool the mixture in the freezer. After cooling, use the mixture as a face mask.

3. Egg whites

Egg whites help in tightening and toning of the human skin. They are rich in protein and potassium that helps to repair the skin and store moisture. Egg whites contain magnesium and riboflavin that helps to fight the aging process. Apply the egg white onto your face and let it sit overnight or until it's dry. Then rinse it off with warm water. You can as well add lemon juice to egg whites to make your skin feel soft.

4. Aloe vera

Malic acid in aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties that help to reduce wrinkles. Extract the gel out of an aloe vera plant and apply it on your face. Allow it to sit for 15-20 minutes and then wash it using lukewarm water.

5. Lemon juice

Lemon juice is one of the simplest home remedies for wrinkles. Take a slice of lemon and massage it into your face. Another option is to mix it with honey. Let it sit for about 15 minutes. The acidity in lemons will help to tighten your skin, reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and increase collagen production. Lemon juice has an aromatherapy feeling which means that it feels good as well as being good for your skin.

6. Banana mask

Bananas are not only a healthy fruit but also contain antioxidants that fight free radicals that cause wrinkles. Take one ripe banana and mash it up, then apply the thick paste onto the wrinkled areas. Let it sit for 20-30 minutes and then use lukewarm water to wash it off. Two blends in particular work well - one ripe banana, one tablespoon of plain yogurt, and one tablespoon of orange juice, or one banana, one avocado and one tablespoon of honey. You can apply the banana mask twice a week.

Further Tips for You to Reduce Wrinkles

Here are other ways on how to get rid of wrinkles naturally which have proved perfect for others:

  • Stay hydrated

Drinking a lot of water will keep your body hydrated. Water helps your body to get rid of toxins. You can either take green tea, water or coconut to keep you hydrated. Note, hydration helps in improving skin firmness and moisturizing your skin from inside. A firmer skin means fewer wrinkles.

  • Use cream with vitamin C

We might not get all the vitamin C needed in the body through consumption - that is why we need to apply it directly to our bodies. Creams with vitamin C assist in reducing signs of aging by neutralizing the free radicals present in your body (around your skin).

  • Avoid the sun

Let's face it, the sun helps to produce a good amount of vitamin D, but at the same time, too much of it can cause sunburn on your skin. Although sunscreen can protect your body from harmful UV radiation, it is wise to use your sunglasses and a hat when you are exposed to the sun.

  • Don't smoke

It will help if you quit smoking cigarettes as it is one of the factors that contribute to wrinkles. The smoke contains carbon monoxide which inhibits the supply of oxygen to the skin making it dry. It also kills off essential nutrients that help to protect and repair the skin. Avoid being exposed to second-hand smoking as you are exposed directly to toxic chemicals.

  • Don't over-wash your face

If you over-wash your face, you are stripping it of its protective oil thus exposing it to tap water chemicals that may cause infection or soreness. Avoid scrubbing too hard in an attempt to reduce the oily-dusty feeling. Instead, massage gently in circular motions to avoid stripping your face of its natural oils. Use a cream cleanser or soap with moisturizer when washing your face.

  • Don't squint

Squinting overworks facial muscles that make grooves to form under the skin's surface. Those grooves later develop into wrinkles. So it is better to get reading glasses and sunglasses to shield your eyes from harmful UV radiation and squinting.

Final Thoughts

The above tips will help your skin to tighten, soften, stay hydrated and moisturized, and most importantly, fight the aging process. Remember to eat food that contains antioxidants such as kales, spinach, beans walnuts, oranges, and walnuts, and use non-toxic moisturizer and sunscreen. This is general advice only, however - consult a professional if you are worried or want a second opinion.
